I am sitting here gripping my sash staunching my tears...that was absolutely beautiful...not because it was phrased just right or because i think that it flowed well but because it was true...down to the very core of my being i know that what you say is the truth...you want us to become stronger i know this. I'm just sad that i pushed myself too hard so i won't be able to fight with you guys for awhile. I am proud to wear this sash. Proud because i want to be a part of this. I want to initiate more of the spirit of the company. I need to come out more often. I need it. I'm gonna see if i can't get out to practice Satuday.
I have training for my new job till 3 so if you guys are still there i'll be there shortly there-after.
damn it guys my hands are shakin now. i wanna fight but my injuries make it so i cant...damn i miss fighting and its only been a few weeks
well i better wrap this up. I love the Company i won't stop sayin it.
regards Borgar

First of all, I stand behind my antics on this thread. Second, dropping you petitioners is not just about working your bodies, but your heart as well. For, you see, if we push you too far, but you keep trying and refuse to quit, we WILL notice. That, my friends, is heart. If you are out numbered, out gunned, out of ammo, but stand your ground and make your enemy earn their victory, then you must be Black Company. NOTHING pisses me off more than to see a petitioner take his own life rather than face a better fighter (I've seen it here in Khatovar). There is no heart there. Even if he is he is the best fighter here, he will be petitioning a LONG time, for it is heart that I am looking for. That is why we drop you, no need to ask 'why' anymore.

I will say one thing, fighting those better than you is the best way to improve your skills i feel. Stand thy ground, get thy ass kicked, get better, and have fun doin it.

To play devil's advocate..
Let me tell you all a story about one day and one battle.. A battle in which Black company was strongly lacking, and a lone petitioner named Hope was attempting to kill those better than her. First, she died 5-6 times by hand of one knight, than 5-6 times by hand of some guy who wasn't a knight, but who sure as hell fought like one. After that, Hope got fed up and hid behind the front line till opportunity struck.
....XP
The moral of the story.. sometimes, going against better peoples just gets you killed over and over.

Dying a stupid death and dying in glory is not the same thing Hope.

So efforts to fight on your own, since no-one-bloody-else is around are stupid?
Are we expected to not show up, then?
The way I see it, there is a difference between dying off the first guy you meet and dying after you've killed a dozen. If that's what you call 'glorious', then tell me this.. is one supposed to run away from the stronger guys in order to slaughter newbies?
If that's not what you call glorious, then do me a favor and provide a definition.

I would like to add a few commits my self. Maia and i came to spring wars not knowning most of you and the ones that we know we hardly knew at all. But during the course of the event we started to receive loyalty from the company. Yes it started out that we feed you guys so we gain loyalty that way, but then it became absolute friendship from the company. We grew accustome to you and you grew accustome to use and now after a weekend Maia and I are treated more like brothers then outercircle and these means alot to the both of use. Expessaly when the older dogs, the ones that left, treat the new dogs like we are nothing. Which is ironic because i have been friends with all of the older dogs for most of my school career. If it wasnt for my shoulder i would petition, but i cant fight our do alought of physical labor for a long time. I would like to thank you from the bottom of what ever heart i have *lol* and say black company for life, and i mean it. Tyr

If that's not what you call glorious, then do me a favor and provide a definition. I'm afraid you missed the point, Hope. Of course you should kill as many people as you possibly can, but it is true however that fighting better fighters makes you a better fighter. That is how many of us (Zao and I for an example) have increased our skill. We've fought the better fighters in Belegarth/Dagorhir. Every chance you get (every chance that does not conflict with the Company schedule of course) watch the fighters who are "better". Spar them when you can, ask questions on how you can improve, and what you're doing correct. That's how you get better, and that's what i have referred to as "fighting better fighters". Yes, you will still probably die 99% of the time, but oh well, you will live again in 5 seconds. *shrugs*. The absolute best way to increase skill is, in fact, to fight the better fighters.

Actually, I was making a retort to the 'glorious' comment. Since dying after 5 seconds is 'stupid', it's really not moi that the 'you don't get it' comments supposed to be directed at.

Dying in a glorious death is something like obtaining a certain goal, such as killing an archer that has been picking you off time after time, then falling to three opponents who were chasing after you. Despite the fact that you died, you still achieved what you set out to do.
Now, as for you playing devil's advocate: Standing on the front line time after time only to die after 5 seconds is a stupid death. I think we all agree to that point. The thing is that if something doesn't work, why not try to do something different? The idea of fighting is to have fun and to get better at it, and like Joshua said, the only way to really get better is to fight the better fighters and to talk to them afterwards. Another thing you said was the fact that the Company was sorely lacking in numbers that time. So what? There are just going to be days when the numbers are low or people aren't at 100%. Mama told us there'd be days like these. My question specifically to you is this : What are you going to do about it ? What do you plan to do to keep yourself from being short-handed on the field? Lastly, the additude is not appropriate. Hit it.

Well, thanks for at least specifying what the heck 'glory' is.
If you re-read the post, something different -was- done in the end.
I'm not going to do anything about it because I can't do anything about it, and I'll be sticking to picking off opportune people and sparring till either the situation or my fighting improves .
Hope without an attitude is like a PB&J without the J.
*hits it*.
